R compounds
Hey Folks
Seeing as everyone is hot for rubber of all manners...
For the folks who like to track / auto-x, what do you think about a group buy on r-compounds for next season?
Over the winter I figure I'll manage to pick up a set of rims and then outfit them with some r's so next year I'm not ripping up my expensive and less sporty street tires on the track or autox.
Lemme know and maybe we can put it together.

I would be tempted in running R compounds all summer long. I have done it with Toyo RA1s for two summers, and was happy with the decision. I found that I got in a full summer of about 13 or so autocrosses (10 runs per), and everyday street driving (with minimal highway) on a set. Now, all four tires were the same size, so I rotated all the time, but I got the full summer of driving and events in on a single set....
And I outright humilitated pretty much any car I came across on the road in the twisties (I didnt come across anything too spectacular).... Unless it was raining and I was just trying to keep the car between the ditches.
I am not sure if it would work out as well with my S though, seeing as we cant rotate....

Vince, keep me posted on what you do, we can also talk this weekend.
My plan is to use the OEM wheels for the track with Kumho Rs.
My obstacle is I have yet to find a set of street wheels that A- come in 16" size, B- I like and C- are the correct offset.
So far the closest thing that I like is the SSR Competition or the Volk TE37, but sizes are not perfect, and I will not compromise. If I have to I will buy another set on OEM rims and have them powder coated if I can find someplace that can do two colors.

I don't think for me atleast that going full time is a good idea considering where I live.
However I do need another set of rims, and I think the OEM are just fine. The ones the spoon car is running in this months SCC are pretty nice too. The OEM's don't hurt my feelings
