I wanna upgrade to canvas. I searched the forum and it seemed like a worthwhile upgrade?

Oem is vinyl

Anyone have any experience or recommendations either way?

I have found someone that will do the replacement but he is in NC. Just getting pricing. But I think it will be around 1200 for a Robbins soft top, (glass MY02 and up) and install.

Anyone else interested in doing a new top? I might fly him down for a few days to get this done. I am sure it'll be cheaper if I can get 2 or 3 of us involved?
Else I might just send the car down with my buddy that's driving down there next month.

Let me know and I will try to arrange.
I will try to confirm pricing.

I think I am gonna do a robbins one instead of the EZ tops.
And I think I am gonna go with Canvas.

This is the installer

he can do them in under 3 hours. I think that's pretty Boss! lol

Soooooo I was just speaking to him.

1080 with Robbins top and install!
Amazing price vs oem. Oem is 2700 from dealership!
If we can get a few guys to do the install we would probably get him down here and each top done for around 1250 installed.
this price is with the canvas top vs the vinyl. Canvas is apparently what they are using on the BMW's and many German mfg cars. (not that it really means anything)
Anyone else want to do this with me? Even if you guys are driving a couple of hours you. At go wrong for 1k for a new top installed!
The top alone is already about 600 so for only abit more you can save 8 hours of your life.
The guys in newyork are doing this with everyone drivin in from all distances.

Don't you look at that tear and hate it?
Don't you get mad each time you have to think about patching and not fixing it?
Do you hate that a rip in that damn roof makes you car look cheaper?

If you said yes to any of these and never want a tear again? Then GET A HARDTOP!! Lol!
But if you want a new roof then let's get this done!
Your baby deserves better!
Pm me if you want more info.

I've switched my 00 top to an 05 top and it's not that bad to do it yourself. I don't know about the robbins top but I would imagine its the same install.

Question: what's the advantage of canvas top over the vinyl top? Don't feel like reading through 5,000 pages to find the answer lol

Someone correct me if I am wrong!

The Vinyl is a rubber so I think it's more prone to creasing and ripping from extended use etc.
The canvas is supposed to have a deeper black colour to it. It's also more prone to ripping from rubbing and wear than the vinyl because it's a fiber based top. From what I see the canvas cost a bit more.

I think both are supposed to be great options.

This guy will do the 00 and 01 upgrade and conversion to glass too if required!

There has to be someone that'd done the canvas upgrade that can chime in?
