As much as I like the plate location it's not a good idea. On my drive down to the dragon last month I monitored my coolant temps. just cruising on back roads up and down hills my temps were surprisingly high at times(as high as 100c) Removed the plate and my temps were 85 to 87c.

That's always been my main reason for not moving the plate to that location, though I've never had any real evidence of the effect. Good to hear some first hand information on this. It makes sense when you consider how much of the original opening is now being blocked by the plate, it's a large portion.

Seriously? I've had my plate mounted like that for 3 years with zero issues, mind you I don't have any way of monitoring my water temp and the OEM gauge isn't very accurate, but no issues to report here.

Everyone on the trip that was monitoring temps took their front plate off and saw temps drop 10 degrees.

I doubt you'd notice it driving around the block but probably something to keep in mind when you're driving a bit more spirited

^Exactly. We had no issues just cruising down 215, but as soon as we got into the hills and some fun stuff where we were actually starting to work the cars our temps did go way up. Took the plate off, dropped right back down.
Maybe we all need the Darcy "Euro plate" solution.
