All the suggestions about getting a gps tracker are great.....

But you can get a gps jammer from pacific mall for $20-30.

There goes your gps signal.
Now what?

Another great way to protect your car is to install a fuel pump bypass "on off" switch. Cutting power to the fuel pump will make it impossible to start the car. So if you park your car in the hood, flip the well hidden switch that cuts the pump off and no matter how hard they try they will never start her up.

tried that last summer, left it top down and out of the sun for 10 mins while i went to the post office. came back and he was sleeping...

the other problem with gps tracker is what happens if they take the car underground? there goes the signal.

sad reality is all the alarms and locks wwe have are only deterrents. if thieves want your car, they will get it one way or another.

Nothing will stop a tow truck, they can hook up a car in minutes and be gone without touching the car.

Personally I feel the best alarm system is a proxy sensor and GPS tracker.

Not to give all my cards away, but I do have a proxy sensor that is VERY sensative (thats what Sean is refering too lol). I would highly recommend it ESPECIALLY for convertibles. People always say how annoying it is because it will go off for random reasons but isnt that the point? There are also two zones, one which gives a warning chirp and the second inner zone that will set the alarm off if breached. So you really only need to be concerned if the second zone is tripped.

GPS tracking is the most expensive because it has a monthly subscription attached to it but its your only defense once they have the car. Any experience I have heard about with people having to use their company have had great results and appear to be very co-operative.

Of course all you really can do is deter thieves, so you need to be able to cope with the possibility of your car being stolen. I also feel that this new online awareness community is becoming a great tool against theft.

Tilt sensors and proxy sensors will detect any kind of movement to the car, even in the instance of rims being stolen.

I have a proxy sensor installed also. You can "Mute" the extrnal sensor if you wanted to if it causes annoyances. Put you hand past the window threshold (top up or down) and it goes into full alarm.
Oh and I forget a tilt sensor too. If the car tilts more than what a flat tire would do then the alarm will also go off.

Vigil GPS used to be around. I think they have gone belly up. They were a Quebec company that used GPS tracking not cellular. You could unlock the doors remotely from anywhere in north America with your password. The coolest thing was a log report that you could access on line showing vehicle travel and speed.
Boomerang I think is still around. If you ever want to find your car if it is stolen then a gps security system is best. Parking it out of sight is better then in the driveway, too.

I would skip all of those security systems, and just install a GPS hidden in my car, that is just my thoughts. I just am not sure which GPS system is good.
maybe you can you stick an iphone in the tools tray when you are away from the vehicle, but then you can't use it to call the cops, lol,

My friend has a great GPS system hooked up to all of his work trucks, but he has to pay a monthly fee. No theft attempts yet, but he has found his workers at strip clubs during the workday when they told him they were at a jobsite. He went to the strip club and took the vehicle away, when the workers came out they called him to say that their truck was stolen and he fired them on the spot. lol.

The Clifford IntelliGuard 770 is from 2007/2008 I thought?
Not sure if the technology is the same as new(er)? models or not.
I have always heard good things about the Viper 5701... and it can be had and installed for about $400 from audio heaven.
If you also put in the escort entourage GPS tracker I think you're good to go. The entourage GPS does have a monthly fee but thats the price we pay to keep the car (fairly) safe if it's out of your sight. Entourage is around $200-$250 but monthly fee is $15 or so. I really don't remember.

It's really sad what the world is coming to.
I was driving the hypeR through brampton/vaughan yesterday and felt like a stripper being stared at by a bunch of dude who have never seen boobs before. Thank god I never need to park anywhere near there ever.
