I just use that engine/rim cleaner - works really well. Just cover the alternater with a cloth or tinfoil so it doesn't get wet - everything else should be OK.

make sure that the engin is not to warm or you can risk cracking the head with the cold water. I do mine in the early morning when it has sat all night.
And when you are all done, take some tire cleaner and wipe down any plastic and rubber with it; makes it really shine!!
good luck

I have the CD2 engine cleaner/conditioner pack.. they don't sell it anymore. Works great. Like others said, wrap up all the electrical components with foil/garbage bags, fuse holders, etc. Be careful when spraying around spark plugs. Do NOT use a powerwash or any other strong streams either.

don't use simple green... last i read about simple green was that it corrodes aluminum... so basically it's not good for our engine block...

GUYS, there is no need to cover anything. All electrical couplers/wires and components are water resistant. If you have a CAI, just make sure you cover that. DO NOT USE any chemicals like engine cleaner sprays or degreasers unless you want to see that beautiful red valve cover turn yellow, not to mention damage your paint!.....Use a spray bottle and fill it up with a strong amount of dish soap mixed with water and scrub...

Do this with a COLD engine, do not spray a warm/hot engine with cold water, you will thermally shock components and might even crack stuff (head/manifold etc)

Good Luck!!

Ian is right. You don't need to cover anything. How do you think it gets dirty in the first place?.......from dirty water that dries.

Do you drive with your alternator and electrical components covered in the rain? NO... heh.. so you don
