Ron ^ I know that - but there seems to be a HUGE difference in the caliber of these people.
THAT is going to make it boring I think. There will be no drama about who's headed home. No close calls, the distrubtion of drivers is bimodal.
Nimesh, Im not surprised if a few of those guys can get close to, or very close to, a lap record on that track. I bet there are a few very good drivers there.
My feedback, and this is not towards your company because you guys are doing an awesome job capturing the event, is that the selection process, while interesting from the standpoint of "which discipline can outperform" standpoint, is not looking like it will produce much of a competition. It is pretty clear who's got it (very few of them) and who does not (almost all of them).
Can you image if the next IDOL is a competition between a bunch of musically inclined people who are not supose to be the best singers around? Why should IDOL be about finding the very best and Star Racer be about something different?

they're sitting in the middle of butt-fvck nowhere....what makes them special?
you're missing the fact that idol is WAYYYYYY different.....we audition 10's of thousands of people.....
remember, anyone can sing....we have proof of that....there are 1000's of professional musical artists out there.
how many racecar drivers are there?
a handful....

I sure the difference is the open casting and brand recognition of Idol versus a startup pilot like Star Racer. (oh, the name is super gay btw... might as well called them the Buddy Club)
Insight had to invest the time and money to find suitable candidates to make and interesting cast.
If this were a open call on Top Gear to create a series where the winner would replace The Stig and created a new show around that, they'd have thousand of people applying. If the Buddy Club can build an audience, the quality of the next seasons contestants will only improve.
.... oh yeah, and what was your lap time???

no, what i mean is thousands audition for idol...and we actually judge them all.
even if you got thousands to replace the stig, you can't judge them all....it's the nature of motorsports....it's not feasible....logistically and therefore subsequently financially.
therein lies the difference.
ya...what was your laptime, dave?

All of my time in F2000 cars is at Mosports DDT.
My time at Tremblant with in my old GSR, mid 90s, before the track was refinished. My parents live 1km from Le Circuit.
