yeah she’ll get there...with the holidays I probably won’t be able to weld the floor back in till the new year. But there is plenty of time till spring.

Test fitting the pan! Fits great. Just some small stuff left. Then going to clean the area, prime/seam seal and tack weld it in!

Looks great, you might want to plug weld it though as it will look more like stock.

yeah I’m considering plug welding to attempt to reproduce the look of the factory spot weld. My main concern is corrosion resistance. I want to put a nice bead of panel bond/sealer and primer in between the trunk pan flange and the car. The factory spot welds showed corrosion when I pulled off the old pan. I could always use a weld thru primer, but I’ve heard mixed results with that type of primer, and I might as well use a good standard etching primer instead.

Update:

I’ve heard good things about 3m panel bonding adhesive and how a lot of new oem’s recommend this instead of spot welding. I’ll be using a combination of tack welding the corners of the pan on the inside like OEM and 3m panel bonding adhesive. I want the pan held tight and not move when I weld, and have some sort of corrosion inhibitor sandwiched in between. Is this over kill? Yeah I think so.

very exciting...will maybe make a video of this...

Dropped the subframe today. This will give me better access to clean up the trunk pan mating surface. You could do it with the subframe on but I’m swapping to an AP2 subframe anyways so it was a no brainer.

The crew.

Final fitting before primer and panel bonding material is applied. I used a jack to press in the pan so the flanges confirm to the frame/body. Looks ok to me.

yeah this car sees double duty track and street. Need room for them groceries and diapers...*cough*. I mean my sockets and jack. Yeah, that’s right.

also this would’ve been so much easier if my pan was stock...it was just so wrong...so this repair should last.
