I agree.

^ i just plugged in 12 feet, 50" and widescreen and got 18.9 max. viewing dist. with 17.2 degrees viewing angle.

max. visual acuity dist. was 17.4

our viewing angle is within that range, but we're obviously not sitting 19 or 17 feet away.

the SMPTE and THX info seems to be geared for theatres and true home theatre set-ups....not for everyday TV viewing.

It is the "visual acquity" data that describes HDTV viewing AFAIK.

and that's why HDTV viewing is supposed to be marginally less than NTSC....not this 1/3 or 1/2 crap.

when i walk by our tv i think, "man, this tv sucks", then i go and sit down 15 feet away and say, "man, what an awesome tv".

our 37" LCD in our bedroom is about 12 feet viewing distance....the resolution is as crystal clear as can be.....especially with an HDMI connector.

nice to have integration, but not as tactile/intuitive as individual remotes....not the first remote i reach for....but use it now and then.

still have one "new in the box" if anyone is interested.

How is it not intuitive?

Oh wait I forgot your reach on technology.

Press button, all functions and features come on exactly as you want them.
