Dave, don't forget, you have an eastern exposure. Maybe be too much light for the mornings, but you shouldn't have direct sun after midday. (i think your media room in on the front of the house?)

Yep Ron, that is exactly right.

Since Ive abandoned the projector in the basement and Ive moved the Sony Dreamstation upstairs into the media room onto my Pana Tau 36inch tube, I have to say that that TV ROCKS! The picture is outstanding and competes reasonably well with my tube 32inch widescreen pana tau on non HD TV.

I never realized how crappy the playstation DVD was. The picture from the Sony DVD and the sound out of the system (dont want anything too loud - kids sleeping very close) make watching anything, TV included, a totally different experience in that room.

It really makes me not in a rush for the plasma, but we want to put the designer to work on the 2nd floor now and we're not going to work around a 280lb non-HD tube TV.

42 would be ideal for 14x14....take away 2 feet for a couch, 1 foot for the tv, and you're at 11 feet.

You two are girls.

Who in their right mind would put up a 42 when they can just as easily get a 50 or maybe bigger? The sweep angle on even a 60 is not going to be a problem.

Dont care about price difference. Only care about a TV that Im not going to want to change within 3 years.

you're stupid.

don't call us when your 80 billion inch plasma, in your 14 foot room, looks like shit.

it's why people don't generally prefer to sit in the front row at a movie theatre.

retard......

ppl dont like to sit in the front row of a movie theater because of sweep angle.

Ive done the calculations, the sweep on a 60 inch in my room is still way below what the maximum acceptable sweep of 30degrees is.

a 30 degree sweep, according to my calculations, is about an 85 inch in my room.

aesthetically I think that youre right. But I want to buy a TV based upon what its like when its turned on.

I sit around 7ft away from my 50" and its great. I think 42" wouldn't suck you in as much from that range.
