Default Wheel Spacers

Hey guys... How bad are wheel spacers for you? I hear some people say DONT GET THEM!! and some people say meh as long as you don't track your car. What is the REAL scoop?

To fit my big brake kit I need about 3/4 inch more space. I really don't want to use spacers so I probably will be selling my EMOTION CR KAI's.... Anybody got any facts? or past experiences?

I like my CR KAI's, I don't want to sell them... Maybe I could just buy 2 new wider fronts or something.

I use a 2mm spacer on the track.

On the street I use 10mm + 2mm for my stock wheels. Never, ever had a problem!

I don't know the answer, but Cory, you're less then half a inch, 3/4" is over 19mm

That seems like a whole lot to me. I wouldn't do it

^ Yes, that's why. Because of the Spoon's.

I also have longer wheel studs on the hub (replaced hub)... sorry, should have mentioned that.

solution, my case is extreme. You'll prolly only need 3-4mm. Nothing wrong with that, but yea... ask Speedstar to be sure.

I have an extreme case! i need 10mm to 12mm
I need to get longer wheel studs as well.

I got a good price on some ROTORA 4 Piston Calipers and bought them.. Now they lay idle in my garage for 1 year. lol

I think I might do the spacers and longer studs.

Draw a cross section diagram of the stock offset compared to your current Cr Kai offset + wheel spacer and see how much wider you're running

multiply that number by the corner weight in N; that'll give you a good idea on the extra moment u'r exerting on the bearings.

What are we going to do after all that?

Well, unless you have a means to make it so that the load on the bearings are decreased after that, you can't really do much about it.

That was merely a method to show how much extra load you're putting on the bearings. Of course, whoever built the car probably did so with a safety factor to begin with; but you'll nonetheless decrease the service life if you go with an offset that's a lot different from factory.
