I Think I'm going to go ahead and do this. I was just wondering if anyone had done this and wanted to lend their expertise. I can do most of it myself the only thing I'll need a hand on most likely is bleeding the clutch.

For those that dont know what it is, there is a delay in the Clutch master cylinder that causes the clutch to nor fully engage the trans on high RPM gear changes and basically rides the clutch....its not fun. Honda did this to save the rear end but the rear end on the AP2 is stronger than the AP1 so it was kind of a double safety measure but this one sucks....its going to kill my clutch prematurely.

I dont do high RPM shifts a lot (accept getting on onramps or merging in traffic) but every time this stupid thing rears its ugly head....

Everyone does this, specially the fi people. Puts more stress on the diff if you do drops vs polishing the clutch

yeah I dont do clutch dumps so I'm not really worried about blowing the rear end....I just wanting to save my clutch...hopefully its not already glazed lol

It happened this morning pulling out into traffic...1st was fine and when to second and sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip and had to put it into 3rd since the revs went up and had a second of slip in 3rd even....doh...

I think I might practice a few more high rpm shifts even after doing this mod....I'm doing more reading and it seems even with this removed it can still happen due to the AP2 flywheel being heavier than the AP1 which causes slippage too....I might just need to learn to drive better lol

wonder how much LHT would charge me to do this.... $20? lol

 

The AP2 flywheel is a boat anchor but I think your issue would be solved with the cdv delete.

yeah, if anything its worth a shot....I just hope its not too late and my clutch isnt already toast....I would hope not after less than 40k miles and a majority of those put on by an older gentleman lol

 

I've done it, and am glad I did it. It isn't that difficult - the hardest part was getting the clip out of the slave cylinder to allow the cdv to come out.

I can attest that the flywheel is a boat anchor and sometimes I still get clutch slippage at redline shifts

 

After breaking and bending some steel dental picks, I just gave up and bought an AP1 slave. If you can get the C clip out, I'd definitely encourage the mod since it can't do any harm if you know how to shift. Personally if I had to spend $70 on a new slave again I wouldn't do it because it's just a band aid on the heavy flywheel.

The correct way to fix it is to replace the flywheel and pressure plate, but that's a lot more than $70.
