Brakes
Maybe I am a little biased here but I hope you did not get a S2K because it was "cheap". The bottem line is that if there was any portion of any car that should never be taken for granted....it is the brakes. Good and Cheap rarely make it in the same conversation.
Just check in with John over at LHT Performance and see what he suggests. We are all in need of quality, at affordable expense. He can walk you through your expectations and then ascertain what you can afford. Even if it's bare bone rotors and pads, please use discernment in that your ability to manuver away from a situation is as important as avoiding one. Braking in our cars is every bit as much the "rush" as accelerating in it. Please do not take any shortcuts due to pricing.
As far as your direct question to slotted or plain, just be sure to let John know where you drive your car, when you drive it and what you want it to do. Plenty of folks on this forum have invested huge money in the slotted/drilled rotors, racing pads, DOT fluids, etc .....and never,..... ever drove the car to this potential. Unless you have money to burn, and just want the braggin' rights, look to John's expertise as to what you need.
i bought the OEM rear and Hawk fron pads, putting aside some $$ for a set of Good quality slotted rotors now, just did my new Goodridge SS brake lines. Brakes are one thing you definitly do not want to go with the cheapest stuff, especially in a sports car
Thanks for your opinions.. I plan on spending $200-250? I just saw some sets on ebay for like $150.. but a bit weary of that.. Read a lot of reviews about rust. Was looking last night at EBC rotors and Stillen.. but I'll give John a call and see what he says..
I agree about not going cheap on brakes but I will least provide some suggestions:
**** Rotors:
- OEM rotors (Brembo Rotors) - can be had for around $80 for the front and $68 for the rear
- Newer Product out there, but I've not had any experience with them
StopTech Cryo-SportStop Drilled Rotor - can be had for around $190 for the front and $172 for the rear
- I'm currently running Power Slot Power Alloy Cryo-Treated, Rotors on the front - which can go for around $252 for the front and $226 for the rear
****Brake Pads
OEM one's can run around $60.00 for the front and $60 for the rear, maybe a little less
I'm running on Hawk HPS Street Brake Pads which can be $93.00 for the front and $65.00 for the rear.
