Default HEAT SHIELD TEMPS?

OK here's a curious question. How warm do our OEM header heat shields get? I'm talking about the black one that keeps heat away from the batt & fuse, A/C lines.

Could one feel safe guessing the continuous operating temp exposed to it would be <450 F since there is an air gap insulating from the OEM header \ silver heat shield?

Cosmo has crazy ideas and finally getting to work on them

Thank ye fellers!

I would say that temp is reached. I drove the S home yesterday from Indy (left at 6AM and arrived here in PC at 9:20pm) with only a 20 min stop for lunch and 4 fuel stops in 1200+ miles.

I check the oil every other fill up and man did I get a blast of hot air when I opened the hood. It was damm hot yesterday.

She ran like a top! I changed the oil before I left and 2454 miles later I still show full on the dipstick.

Everytime I dirve the S I fall in love all over again.

Foil wrapped Krystal burgers are held pipping hot behind the shield.
