Sounds like you are squared away. I wish you luck. I know several people that have bought honda certified s2000s from a dealership and they have been happy. You might want to go that route.
We wish you the best of luck

The dealer gets to make the decision and Honda has no input on it. Honda will simply say it's between you an the dealer if the dealer certifies a car that is clearly not certifiable.
Brandon Honda sold me a 2002 Blue S2000 with Tan seats they had pained blue after some one slashed the top and stold the seats while it was on the lot. Brandon Honda reported the crime (affecting all 4 s2000's they had) to the Sheriffs office and I got a copy of the report.
Honda would not get involved and told me that the certifed program is not backed up by Honda, simply the dealers. Brandon Honda would not make it right even when shown the evidence of it.
The certified designation is meaningless sales speak.

Honda Certified means Jack Shit.

I will also relay that we had 2 that where top cut seats stolen and the dealership put BRAND NEW seats , frames leathe and everything in both , one was a used car . Both got OEM tops and all new OEM replacement parts . Again this is a dealer to dealer thing and the shady ones are the ones that paint beige seats blue .
I would have contacted Scott McRae and got an attoney on them for that

Tried the whole attorney route. I was not going to spend 10k to sue over a 22k deal.
My point was that the "Honda Certified" means nothing across the Honda brand, it's simply a dealer thing, Honda has no oversight or power to enforce a standard.

...honestly the only drawback to the s2000 is the styling...sorry but i allways thought was a little bland....still a honda tho and that will always mean quality and preformance, but i have always thought honda coulda done a little better in the design. But i really like this front end spoiler and the price seems reasonable. I still havent made up my mind, still searching thru rx8's , GTO's , Z's ect ect...
the more i know the better i will feel to a conclusion.
thanx again guy's

The only thing they are good for is picking up some MTF when you do your trans. I even had to ask for the washers and originally they only brought one out. I (the owner) had to tell them ( the Honda parts guy) that both the fill and drain bolts had washers of different sizes.
Tried to give them a second chance and asked about bleeding the clutch. $50 and one hour turn time.
I went to Auto zone bought my own 8mm wrench and brake fluid for $8. Borrowed my neighbors jack and stands, and with his help had it done in no time.
Dealerships are very specific. Jon Hall Honda in Daytona is a class act!
They knew what I wanted and kept an eye out for me. When the perfect used one came on the lot (MY04 SS low milage), I told them I'd be over to check it out. Turns out the owner gave me a new one for almost the same price (MY07 SS with 7 miles on it). The S2K is a great car but you'll need to do your homework regarding dealerships.
