Car won't hold an idle, when I turn the AC on. Don't want to take it to the dealer. But I will :-)
Can I get any help here on someone who knows about our cars?

What is the idle like when the a/c is off?

If you bring up the RPM then turn the a/c on, does it work? Any strange noises with the a/c on? Any other issues with the engine (does it run well)?

Likely either the idle control stuff isn't working (Idle air control valve or associated electronics), or the a/c is failing and putting too high a load on the engine, causing the idle to fall.
