3rd a error message was comming up during start up...said media fail eathernet error check cable.....then it wouldent boot properly.
4th for the last 7 months the windows updates would fail....

it souns as if you were heavily infected. i hope you got all your data off. I have gotten to the point where I remove all viruses an malware manually looking for unsigmed processes, killing them and then removing them from the autoruns list. Scanners are only as good as the database they use.

A hard drive relacement is not a big deal in a laptop. if that indeed is going. It would be a good idea to run Spinrite on the drive to see what is bad and what can be saved

ya that was what i was thinking after the reinstall...
Its been soo long ago i had my A+ class i really don tremember what should or should not run......so if it look like something that i didnt want i stoped the service.
I didnt really have much saved..mostly some games and other stuff that wasnot inportant.......
felt good to do a total clean restore....had to unistall alot of toshiba software that was running and that helped....
iill keep you in mind if i need a new or refurebed hd.....
thanks fo rthe tip on the scan ..most of the windows updates installed but the most recent ones failed (like last time)...im not gonna worry about that to much now...
thanks again!
