Default Problems turning over

So my trusty S2000 wouldn't start today . I get a series of clicks when I press the start button but the car doesn't turn over. Given my limited mechanical knowledge the first thing that came to mind was the Starter. I googled it as well and it seems that the problem should be the starter or starter solenoid...

Have any of you had a similar issue before? Is it possible to DIY or is this better left to a shop?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I tried disconnecting the battery, that didn't help. I also tried using the windshield wipers and the lights and both work just fine so I'm guessing it's not the battery but who knows.

Any input is welcome, if anyone would have time to come look at it in person on Sunday I'd appreciate it (beer & lunch/dinner would be on me of course).

Thanks.

"Clicks" usually mean that the battery is too weak to start the car. Besides, Honda starters rarely ever go bad! First, make sure your battery terminals are tight and that the top of the battery is clean. If those two items are fine, then pull the battery and take it to Advanced Auto. They will check it for free, then you can buy a battery wherever you like, assuming it is bad. A battery can still produce 12 volts, but lower than normal amps if it is bad. That is why your accessories might work, even if the car won't start. If you still have any problems, let me know and I can meet you to check it out.

Hypnotizing power
Crushing all that cower
Battery is here to stay

Smashing through the boundaries
Lunacy has found me
Cannot stop the battery

Pounding out aggression
Turns into obsession
Cannot kill the battery

Cannot kill the family
Battery is found in me
