Default windshield help

hey guys, i need your help. back in december i had a few chips in my windshield. a glass company was at my work and they said they could replace it for me at no charge. that sounded great. they came out in a few days and installed a new windshield. on the way home i found the mirror was attached too high and is so close to the roof pillar i cant adjust it properly. when the top is down its great!! better vision out of the front windshield. when the top is up, i have to tilt it down to see fully through the rear glass but that points towards the ground, i cant see very far behind, usually just headlights and front tires. if i tilt it up further the top blocks half my vision. are they using the wrong year windshield? it is aftermarket made by PGW. they state that its the same company that makes the glass for honda. they have brought out 2 other windshields but the rear view mirror tab is still too high. do you guys have any suggestions? has anyone run into this before? they will not buy a glass from honda, they state my insurance company will not pay that much. help please...todd

call other companies until you find one willing to deliver Honda glass or pay the difference in cash....

at least they are not showing up with a Honda Civic model="S" Year=2000 windshield....that's happened to me twice....LOL

Take it from someone who INSISTED on OEM Honda glass and was sorry he did! I had it replaced less than a year later. The OEM glass is "soft" and pits like crazy. I ended up with PPG and while it still pits somewhat it isn't near as bad as the OEM glass

As for the location of the mirror, I assume this is predetermined with the black coating on the glass, can the mirror be re positioned within this area and made to work? If so I would demand the company who did the work reposition the mirror on the windshield, if not then I would demand a new windshield that positions the mirror so it is useable.

Just installing the mirror where the instructions tell you to and not making sure it is functional isn't very smart on their part. My approach with them would be one of Safety............If you cant use your mirror then obviously it is a very unsafe situation, hopefully they will work with you to make it right otherwise they could find themselves featured on one of the local news shows consumer protection segments.

Good Luck!

yes they said they could lower it but it would be below the black coating on the glass. i will assume it would look like ass!!! i told them to keep bringing out windshields untill they find the right one. my only other option is to find a rear view mirror that would fit the attachment and has a double pivot instead of a single pivot arm...

I have PGW and have had no problems with mine. I believe i had to tweak the adjustment behind the mirror and drop it down. Doesn't it have a middle piece to raise and lower? (have to go look now) I think it has 2 pivot points like this (D is mirror, o is pivot point, = is a bar, o is pivot point, \ is glass): Do=o\

Verified. Where it mounts to the glass, it slides up and down a bit giving you about 1/2 an inch to move it up or down for preference on mine. mine isn't tightened all the way up so I can slide it up or down, but it looks like a philips screw can make it stay put.

the glass company is coming out today with a honda glass today so we will see how the rear view mirror mounts back up. i was at tampa hondaland wednesday and there was an older s2000 and the black spot were the mirror mounts too was the same height as my aftermarket windshield. now i am have doubts as what the outcome will be today. will my mirror still be too high? i will keep my fingers crossed.

I actually adjusted mine after work. I loosened the screw and took it off the glass. there is about a 1/4 inch slot that allows you to slide it up or down on mine.

I had mine replaced with aftermarket and it's held up great but my mirror is mounted too high now. I can barely see out of the back window from my seating position.
