well they came out today and installed an oem honda windshield and the mirror button is lower by about a 1/4 inch, but now i have full visibility out the back. i never would have thought that little of distance on the mirror button would have that big of a change in view out the back window. seal looks like sh_t but i will try and fix that myself.

Well crap. I had a couple rocks hit the windshield on 275 construction area a couple weeks ago. They just made marks on the windshield but no spidering or cracking.

Yesterday, a big crack developed and is working it's way from bottom to top on the passenger side.

I was really hoping to not get a new windshield before the dragon...but it's looking like I don't have a choice now

Trying to figure out if my insurance company will cover OEM or not - I really don't want the mirror problem but also don't want to pay anything out of pocket for this.

Thanks - yes - started with the insurance company today. They paired me up with a "preferred shop". Currently the insurance company said they may not pay extra for an OEM windshield and charge me the difference...so I don't want to pay anything but would prefer to have OEM per your experience. Right now waiting for quotes from the glass company to see what the price difference is between OEM and aftermarket, then will go back to the insurance company to see if they will approve OEM or not. Then back to the glass company to let them know what to order.

I have a PGW replacement windshied in my car and don't have any issues with the mirror. While I've always felt like it was a little higher than it was on the OEM windshield, it's never bothered me. Seems to be a quality windshield as well, haven't had any issues.

I need to get mine fixed. Had it replaced a long time ago but the button was a little high so it's hard to see out of the back window.

Insurance won't cover the OEM and Safelite assured me that if the mirror isn't right, they will keep trying new glass until it is right. They said that Honda doesn't make their own glass on the S2k anyways - so all the companies use the same mold and same materials - just a matter of a Honda badge or not.

Glass is scheduled for Thursday install - so we'll see.

Just had my 3rd windshield installed since April...all done by Safelite but different techs each time...all the SGC brand...all had a stress fracture about half way up the windshield originating from where the glass meets the windshield frame/pillars on the side. Hopefully this one will not have the same issue - if it does, I guess I need to demand a different brand of glass.
