Those weigh 1.5 lbs. more than the 9". If I will be running a 255/40 on either wheel, what is the benefit? Won't the 10" stretch the tire and make the side walls look all...... not sure what word to use there. I truely don't get this stuff.

I don't mind having the fenders rolled but I don't want to have to pull them too. I have read the thread start to finish, twice, and there are too many comments to sift through much less understand. OK, my brain is starting to cramp again.
I guess you missed my post on this.

The 10" wheel will provide more mechanical grip than the 9" even if you are running the same 255 tire on both wheels. The weight advantage that the 9" provides does not compare to the benefit of running a 10" wheel. A 255 tire will not really be stretched on the 10" wheel. If it is, it will be so slight that you won't really notice. My 255's are slightly pinched by my 17x9's. 10" would be perfect imo. Also, with 10" wide wheels you can step up to 275 R comps all around

The 9" will be more plug and play, but this is a track car so I think you should go with what will turn quicker lap times. If you really want to get a 9" then you should buy my RPF1's, so I can pick up the 6ULR 17x10's

Rob, here is a picture of my Dunlop Direzza Star Specs (255/40 R17) on my 17x9 +45 wheel:

Sorry, it's the best picture I have right now, but you can see how the tire is wider than the wheel. The wheels are pinching my tires in. A 10" wide wheel would be perfect for a 255 tire.

One bad thing about going with the 17x10 +52's is that the wheel will rub slightly on the control arms at full lock. On a track car, you never need to go full lock anyway though. The only time it will be an issue is if you spin.

All the info you need about the 17x10 +52 is already stated above.

If Rob buys my RPF1's

If I did get them, I'd run 275/40 R17 NT-01's all around.
