my house is pretty temperamental...the AC can keep the house cool on all three levels so long as it's not above like 105....once it gets above that...my upstairs hits 80 pretty quick in the summer...and my electric bill gets to about 250...in the winter...its the same thing in reverse...once it goes below 20...my furnace works full time and my gas bill gets up to about 300...but at least it can keep up...good thing tho is the basement has a nice gas fireplace to warm it up in the winter...and it's always cool in the summer...but for the love of god...I hate kansas weather...negative 20 windchills in the winter...and f'n 110 in the summer...'tis boolsheet

To be honest, AC units arent designed to keep up with 100+ weather. Same with extreme weather in the other direction. So thats not out of the ordinary.
