Exactly why I'm in the Miata.
I loved the S2000 and seriously considered it but it's tough paying the "EOL" tax since the car isn't being produced anymore. The Miata is a fun car, granted slower than the S2000 (sometimes), but it's bulletproof mechanically. The community forums are really good and there's a huge following of racing, so fully vetted parts etc.
On top of it, it's f@#king blast to drive. Every test drive left me w/ a smile on my face and for a '06 S2000 would have cost me another 7-8k over what I paid for the Miata.

My plan right now:
Get something in the 5k range and pay cash. Something old that I won't have to run through marta. No computer garbage or electric this or that. 4 wheels and an engine(of course ac and radio).
And then once I'm married, look into a nice c6, and since Kaitlyns car is paid off(worst case is she buys one before the marriage, but she has like 20k saved up) one car payment isn't bad.
