We intially decided it was only a remodel on our first house, and wouldn't be worth the money to buy the top end stuff. Now that we have it, when we build our next house it will probably have Corian again. Just as nice as stone, and it won't hold bacteria and germs that stone will!!

I'll add in another vote for Corian tops. The grout in tiled counter tops is a breeding ground for bacteria.

In our 2nd house, we had granite tile for the master bath and the kitchen. It looked pretty, but unless you are obsessive compulsive or have a maid who actually cleans your house or you don't actually "live" in your house - I'd steer clear of that.

Yes but now you must use a particular grout and sealant to reduce/eliminate the bacteria
