I just realized that in the past this group has only been in the late fall. Now that we are going mid summer we might want to adjust our schedule/plan a bit.

By the time we get there (mid-day} on Saturday there will be motorcycles a plenty, sportbikes (crashing and attracting cops )campers in suv's, white water thrill seekers, fishermen and all other types of tourist traveling in the area and creating bottlenecks and danger on the dragon.

My suggestion is we go through the dragon and stop at the store. Eat lunch and hang out. If the traffic isn't too bad do a few runs. If the traffic is bad like I think it will be then we move on and hit some other great roads in the area.

On Sunday I say we get out there as close to sunrise as realistically possible. The best time to run the dragon in the summer is early in the morning when no one is on the road and the cops are still waking up. The sun rises in that area around 6:30 Eastern right now. So if all are in favor I say we get up super early and hit the dragon. We should be able to get breakfast there now that the regular season is open.

We could always split into two groups on Sunday morning. 1. the early risers that want to get to the dragon and do some uninterrupted fast driving . and 2. Sleepy heads that need their beauty rest can come to the dragon a bit later and meet us there .

Thoughts?

I was there years ago and did just that. Hit the dragon before 7am....just as the sun was up. Was pretty awesome.

I think the plan is to still leave early-ish.

Yeah, Saturday we are still leaving early to get there and drive all the other roads in the area where hopefully there won't be much traffic and cops. Feel free to come as late as you want and meet us at the dragon or Bryson city. The only problem is cell phone coverage up there may make it tough to hook up.
