Undoubtedly there will be future musical artists that will thrill and amaze us with their abilities to create but raw talent is certainly not a huge factor in today's computer generated riffs, accompaniments and rhythms. Think of all the great albums that were made when synthesizers were in their infancy. There wasn't just one or two songs that were worth listening to - whole albums were peppered with killer songs! How many bands today can make that claim? You're lucky to get one or two worth listening to with the rest just "fill" for a quick sell. Sure, there are exceptions but true rock gods sure don't seem to be reproducing and the new blood seems to be very thin.

While I'm on a dissapointment roll let's shake the tree. Anybody out there got one band that just seems to be a total waste of time to listen to and refuses to die?
Mine is the "not so hot silly lepers". Other than a "section" of a song or two they've got no talent, ability, or creativity IMO.

Now on that note Robin, I have to disagree about the "Not So Hot Silly Lepers". I really do think that their music will be around for years and years to come. I think their bassist, Flea, is an absolute incredible musician (although the only one of decent talent in the band) and can rival some of the better bassists out there. I mean, there will always be the Victor Wooten's, Stefan Lassard's, etc, but they do have talent. Now, I do not by any means like all of their songs, and I do even agree that sometimes even their "good" songs get bad 1/2 way through. So in a long-winded round-about post, I agree with you on their talent level (less flea), but I disagree about their music not being around for years to come. Their a niche band that has succeeded for years, and will for years to come.

ON that note, the bands that I cannot stand are the "Fad Bands" that are just popular for a year and then completely disintegrate. These are such bands as The White Stripes, Evanessence, N'Sync, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears (haha), etc. Granted, there are more, but Im watching the game and sidetracked. Oh, I also hate all EMO Bands (short for emotional-i-want-to-slit-my-wrist-bands).

Oh gosh, and dont even get me started on rap. Some of those "musicians" are very good Lyricists, but gosh, talk about your computer generated beats that are only good for some hardcore "bumping and grinding" (or so Ive been told). I think Eminem honestly has talent as he is an amazing Lyricist, and his music (seemingly) seems to be honest and true from the heart. Whereas all the other rappers like 50 Cent, Ludacris, Jay-Z, Kanye West, etc all talk about the same crap. Yes, crap. They all talk about living life in the projects, getting shot at, their "bitches and hoes", making money and "ridin' on dub deuces" all to computer generated beats. That's not talent, it's being able to talk fast and read; assuming they all know how to...

Ok, I disagree with Matt's choices of no talent here today gone tomarrow bands (only a couple though). What I HATE are the (what I call) Fab bands. Not fad. As in pre-fab/prefabricated. Labels picking a choosing who and what there playing based on looks and what they think they can sell. I hate to say it but Mr. V Ice (in his famous days) is a example of this. Then again you don't have to be to talented or the best musicians to have a great band. I think sometimes when every one in the band is incredibly talented the music gets overly complicated and too artsy and it comes across that way. This subject may deserve its own thread.

I saw alot in the above posts. I just think if one is hung up on just 1 genre or style - one will become discontent at some point.
