Default Soft Top defect

Hey guys I just wanted to let everyone know about a common problem that I found out too late.

I was leaving Wynn's house after the Hood Bonnet swap "At least thats what I'm going to tell everyone that's what we were doing , I pulled out to the street and went to put my top down and right before the top got all the way down we heard a pop, and the top didn't go down all the way, well I put it back up and then back down and it worked fine, I thought nothing of it and took off down the street to help a freind out with his car, When I got there and put the top up I noticed a small tear in the top right behind the driver side latch, if you look at the link below you will see how the bar does not fold down properly, when it did that to me the fabric caught under the latch and tore it as it went down.

Hopefully this will help you not end up in my position.

Thanks that should help me with Honda on Monday.

In the photo above shows where the fabric gets pinched between the bar and the latch, when the bar properly folds down the fabric has more then enough play between it and the latch.

funny (for me) today I went to run a few errands & Melissa wanted to tag along since it is so nice out. She found a needle sized hole on her side with some substantial wear surrounding it. REI to the rescue - I just used some seam sealant and some vinyl patch material - good as new. While patching that hole I found another spot that was worn as well. This is my 2nd top.

...mine was a dark blue, but since it is on the inside & we're only talking about a 3/4" piece I cut out - I didn't really care.

I used this

& I don't see that other item I used, but it is a roll of nylon sheet that has a super sticky adhesive backing - I just cut out a shape and slapped it on.
