But, the local show has been *really* lame for the last several years...

 

lame, ha! "oooh, and over here, we have the new Jeep...er... not really new, because its been at the dealership for a while."

 

It's kinda like visiting all the local dealerships w/o having to drive around town. I was spoiled seeing the Houston auto show every year when I lived there, b/c Austin's show really sucks by comparison!

Congrats on your new job, Kirk! Hopefully you'll still be there when the next gen S2K comes out so I can bug you about making me a screaming deal!

 

VERY lame - they do have a couple of "show cars" - but they are always a few years old at least. Last year, I saw the Dodge charger-type car, which was shown to the press for the first time 4 years ago in Detroit. That's why I fly up to Detroit or Chicago every year (Jan/Feb) to see the big international shows up there.

Detroit is the best show in the country, both for show cars, prototypes, and new car intros. LA is next, followed by Chicago, followed by NYC. The rest are just cars off local lots.

I'm headed downtown Friday after lunch... pre happy hour....

 

You cant expect Austin to have a big time show like NY or Detroit but it seems to get better each year and it's cool enough to come out to this year. We have the Element on display, which nobody really expected, and it got nothing but praise today. We have a yellow S2k at the show but the white/tan is still up at Howdy if you want to come see it.

I finally saw the Infinity G35 Coupe and I love it!

I am the new IT/Marketing Assistant Manager at Howdy and I am looking into planning an event for you guys. I'll post more details when I know more.
