My wife has a few F1-related sites that may be of some help with hotels/lodging/events:
The hotels site (AustinRaceHotels.com) is a price comparison site, similar to Kayak.
The Rentals site (AustinRaceRentals.com) is for vacation rentals and she's beginning to get a few event venues listed as well.
The Events site (AustinRaceEvents.com) is a social calendar for events leading up to F1 weekend. It's got the officially-announced events on there and is growing.
There is a B&B on Austin Race Rentals that I know has 100% availability during race weekend. It's a bit far, but it's fairly affordable, located on a working horse ranch and will have plenty of parking: Rancho del Lago B&B. Plus it's out by Elgin, which is famous for its smoked sausages. And beer. Don't forget the beer.

Many of our local S2000 owners are also involved with various F1 fan oriented groups and car clubs, myself included. There will likely be multiple F1 fan activities that our out of town S2K guests will enjoy. I'll be posting details as we learn of them and will be happy to coordinate a GTG as the time nears.
Keep us posted.. I'm still on the fence pending my room situation. I also will most likely not have access to a vehicle so I'll be limited to where I can go to attend events.. I'll keep visiting this thread to see what updates are posted...
Also, Stefan, since you are a CO, you have the ability to edit my original post... Please feel free to update as you see fit. I'll try to update the attendees list as well.

The whole vehicle/parking situation sounds like a goat rodeo for this event, and is pretty disappointing. Some friends and I had planned to drag a big RV trailer to the site and stay there the entire weekend, but the facilities for hosting RVs isn't going to happen this year. Being that I live in the San Antonio area, and the track is only about an hour from my house, it doesn't make sense for me to get a hotel IN Austin for the exorbitant costs places are charging, so I'll probably have to end up driving/commuting back and forth each day, plus dealing with Austin traffic. Hoping that doesn't completely ruin the experience for me.
