Default ECU Reset gave me .4 second increase in performance and fixed AC

I did 3 runs w/out the ECU reset-- w/gtech... reset the ECU and did the EXACT same run 3 times... (accidently WITH the AC ON!). I got .4 seconds faster 0-60 and .3seconds faster in the 1/4mile.

All I did was pull the ECU plug... then pull the 7.5amp fuse (2nd down from the right most under the drivers knee).

Not only did my performance increase dramatically, but 2nd gear had noticbly more torque. Additional benifit: I had an AC "issue" where when I would come to a stop, it would almost die (rpms would drop to 600rpm'ish... you could feel the engine complain). This also, is gone! I'm wayyy pleased. Don't know why this worked, etc... but it did.

Most modern ECU's "learn" the way you drive and adjust certain parameters accordingly. Resetting the ECU erases all these learned parameters to start from scratch. Sounds like you've been driving it like a wimp!

You can also reset the ECU by pulling the ground on the battery for about an hour. That's how most Subie owners do it. More than likely going to do that when I get the Kumhos next month since I'll be driving a little harder after I get those

Pulling the battery would require us to reset our radio security system, though?

Yes, pulling the battery would require a radio reset too... bad idea and a bigger pain in the ass than just removing a fuse.

I saw a discussion regarding this technique to "revitialize" VTEC after an oil change. I didn't believe it until it happened to me. I had my oil changed and the VTEC crossover was gone! I only had to unplug the fuse for about 30 seconds and my VTEC came back as strong as ever. Weird.

I think this comes down to poor engineering. I mean, comeon, VTEC not working after an oil change? I'm not saying that it didn't happen, what I'm saying is that Honda shoulda caught that.

Also, after an ECU reset, you're supposed to let it idle for like 5 minutes or so. That's to get the right fuel mixture and stuff.

This all seems a little "iffy"... Subaru is the same way.
