Escort SR1 ??
Hi,
I'd just like to know if any of you have (or know someone who have) installed an Escort SR1 in their favorite S2000? And if so, are you happy about it, about the installation (did you do it yourself or someone else did it for you), ... It looks pretty nice, but it's really expensive ...
And to say it before someone else does, I know it's better (and way safer) to go fast on a track compare to the street ... but having a radar detector isn't only for that, for me, it's mainly to avoid those stupid time when you were a little bit above the speed limit and those little beeps can save you money.
Thanks,
-Teo.

Teo - post this to the main S2000 talk forum and I'm sure you'll get much better responses from them.
Locally, I think we are pretty much a Valentine 1-family, and a few Escort 8500's.
Hope to see you at happy hour this eve!

Absolutely spend the money and get the full-blown Valentine. It's the only one worth considering, and it is worth the premium price. I've got two and have had them since they came out a million years ago. Their performance has always been first-rate, and their customer service is top-notch.
See the latest Car & Driver for a radar detector test - and yet another Valentine win!

Yes, I do have a Valentine-1 and now do use an Escort 8500 ... I think they're both great and the only thing I don't like about the Escort is the fact that it doesn't have the arrows that the V1 have ... and that is a really useful feature when you try to find where the radar is ...
I'm sure you are going to say that I am crasy, but I just got my S2k and I feel like having a radar detector inside would make it ... how to say ... less pretty! Plus, I'll have this cable in the way and it would cover some of the view while driving ... I don't know, maybe I just want everything to be perfect in this car, but I don't know if it's worth $1000 + installation (considering it's the same technology as the 8500) ... So, for now, I didn't even installed my 8500 and try to be really carefull!
Schatten, thanks for the advice, I think I'll try that, you are right, I may get more responses ... And concerning the HH tonight, I'm afraid I won't be able to join y'all ... I unfortunately already have some stuffs every friday nights
but I read that some folks were thinking about doing some gathering during the begining of the week (tuesdays so Sondra could be there too) ... and then I'll be able to meet all of you!! I hope you won't laugh too much at my french accent!
Can you believe that since I got my new S2K (2-3 weeks ago) ... I've never seen one on the road!
I'm so sad because when I was waiting for it, I was seen at least one a day!! Where are they gone!
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to meet all of you really soon ... and have a great time this evening!

Jeff, as the former owner of 2 V-1's and now an 8500, I'll attest to the greatness of the V1, but also think the 8500 is a VERY competitive unit. IMO, it beats the V1 on just about everything except those damn arrows, which I still miss! I'd be hard pressed to pick a clear winner among these two.
Teo, no need to have wires running through your car....just hardwire a telephone cord through your A-pillar and along the windshield, w/ the cord exiting near the rearview mirror. Do a search, and you s/b able find full pics & instructions. It looks pretty clean, and works great in that position.
