Default hardtop installed / windshield tape removed

I did this about a month or so ago, but i thought i'd share the pics for those interested:

This is my favorite mod to date.. I think it totally changes the look of the car (I'm just now getting over the feeling that i bought a new car ) And it also provides me with much needed "anti-slash" peace of mind..

By the way, let me know if any of you are considering removing your windshield tape. I'll let you know the tricks and tools I used to make the process completely clean and painless. I got it done in less than an hour with no tearing, no sticky residue, and virtually no clean up at all.

That looks really good!

Sorry I didn't try to get a hardtop with you. If I was sure I was going to keep my car I would have....

Did you have to get it painted? If so do you know how much it would cost for a metalic color?

Well Chris...look at how many people get their stuff jacked. Two in one month!?

And it doesn't really matter if the seats have seat locks on them. They can still rip the top. Not to mention if they do get in, its better that they take the seats so you can some money off of them.

If someone's gonna stoop low enough to rip your top, it's not that much more difficult to break/cut glass. Still more secure, but plenty of non-convertible vehicles get broken into as well.

Much as I like the S2000, I'd probably be more inclined to get something else (350Z, G35c, M3?) if it wasn't for the convertible top...which is not to knock Jason's car in any way, as it looks fantastic! (I'd just be missing the open air)

Thanks for the compliments Chris, but Blake is right about one of my reasons for getting the top. I'd say I bought it 50% because of looks/uniqueness, and 50% for protection/peace of mind. Obviously, spending that much on a purely aesthetic mod is kinda stupid (especially when I already have a glass rear window), but hearing about Blake's seats reminded me that there are still thugs in Austin looking for our seats. We all know the BS Randy had to go through.

And I don't have a garage like most of you do so I felt like a sitting duck. I ordered a set of seat locks as soon as I heard about Blake, but that only gave me partial peace of mind. A thief wouldn't know I had seat locks until the damage was already done (even though I have dinky "Protected by McGard Seat Locks" stickers ). True, thieves can break windows too, but that would set off any alarm. Cutting a ragtop is completely silent and would only set off alarms with a proximity sensor.

Besides, it not very difficult to remove the top, but it does require two people. Once I get a garage (hopefully in a couple of months), I'm going to install a hardtop hoist so that I can remove/install it by myself. I still have plenty of open air in my future when I want it. But for now, peace of mind let's me sleep easier at night..
