just day dreaming
so i was day dreaming about what to do next.
http://www.carontrack.com/nissan/silvia/002.shtml
i find this online and realize that although the price of the CAR is very low. *its like the mustang of japan* its the getting here that will hurt your wallet
so, i called and it is like 700 frieght to a port in canada.
step one: get to this continent check!
step two: get through customs.... no bueno
where do you go from there? just wondering if anyone knows. i mean i dont have all the money in the world IM IN COLLEGE! I HAVE none! but yah just throwing it out there to get people talking and what ideas or advice they have because...wow cars like that are RARE in the US.
i know emissions and registration are a big deal. so assume weekend/track car so no emissions and low liability insurance if any so i CAN drive it here and there but not alot
thanks guys,
victor
p.s. not knocking mustangs as most new gts will leave me on the highway but yah...real roads have TURNS

some things to consider:
- those cars are getting old
- old cars break down, and s15 engine/brake/suspension parts arn't available statewide. there's no real USDM nissans that are compatable for the most part. and if you get in a wreck, good luck finding body panels (overnight parts from japan, yO!)
- DOT would tear that car up during the import process, or limit your abilities to drive it on public roads *legally*

personally, I never understood the craze about bringing over cars from other markets where parts arn't readily available.
and knowing san antonio drivers, someone could bump you in the parking lot and take off, requiring you to order a bumper from overseas, in god knows what condition, and having it take weeks or more.
importing cars is only a good idea if you have money burning a hole in your pocket and other cars to fall on for backup, unless its something they have here in the states (or at least, something comperable so you can get parts from it)

If you want a toy, why not get a WCM Ultralite? Basically a Lotus 7 replica with an S2000 drivetrain in it.
Would certainly be a heck of a lot more fun.
