Default Mini Cooper release in the USA

Let's discuss this neat little car. I don't know that much about it, but I am going to start looking into it. I love what I have heard.

If you don't like it then please post why? Is it too small? Is it ugly? -- or are there real concerns/ reasons you don't like it. I love it!

I plan on keeping my S2000... Don't worry about me trading in my S2k for a Mini... That is not what this post is about. I'm just curious about the car.

Every time my car ends up in the shop for over a week, I get to thinking about other cars. --- This time it is the Mini Cooper!

I think they kick butt. That place across from Central Market (autostrada?) had one. Cool little cars. The hard core autox guys say it is poised to dominate the class its in, and will likely get bumped up.

They offer options as a palette to choose from, rather than the ubiquitous bundling we generally see today. This is good, you can skip stuff you don't need like navigation and sunroof for upgraded suspension, bigger wheels. (talking from a performance/track perspective here)

It's a nice car and a great marketing ploy. basically you are getting a better, neater version of what the 318ti was. The mini's are BMW's and are set up next to BMW dealerships so that one can go from an entry level Mini, and then buy a Beemer after they outgrow the stylish little car.

What I was saying is simply that the MINI is an entry level BMW that is being done in a different way than the 318ti. I am not making any comparisons between the actual cars.

They still don't have a single dealer in Texas, which is a big problem. There is no way I would buy a car which I would have to take to Memphis, TN if I had a problem. I think they're pretty cool, but there are so many choices in that price range I'm not sure what I would get.

So John, what's the diagnosis on your car? I hope it wasn't too bad and you get it back soon.
