open minded
hey guys, only recently bought a membership, but have owned the car for 3 months now. been in love with the S2000 for years. i see many s2000's when im driving, but no waves excluding a few
still, i am interested in learning about local events near austin, hopefully in the immediate austin area if possible, where i could go to an autoX event and/or a school
let me know if you guys have any info, currently im a little ways away from being available to do this...but also, if i could get info on any event(s), im also looking for an event that allows for non S vehicles....never been to an autoX, wouldnt mind going just to watch and learn either. i know the season is probably ending what with winter and all, but let me know guys!

Welcome aboard! AutoX in Austin is held by Spokes.org. They race over at San Antonio Raceway. AutoX in San Antonio is held by Sasca.org. Just keep an eye on these boards for local runs or happy hours and whatnot.
Oh and FYI, in Texas we autocross every month of the year. No snow ftw! Check out my 2010 Autocross Season thread in this forum.
Hisham (GateCrasher) is hosting the next BBQ drive too, check out his thread in this forum.

so the closest place to actually autoX the car is san antonio??
kinda far from me...
=/
AutoX events are open to all cars except SUV's and Toyota Echo's.
A lot of Austinites make the trip down here to play.
Harri Hill is @ exit 205 in San Marcos, you also have the driveway and one other track in Austin.

There are a good bit of ex-s2k owners that join as well in their other cars.

Welcome to the group, and feel free to bring your Miata buddy along.
sweet. thanks guys!
he is still in the process of looking around. i was interested, and im setting plans to be autoXing within a year at least a few times...i just want to get more of the note paid off. but i looked in to harris hill road, they are kind of expensive though...from the link i saw though. what are some costs to novice classes? not at harris hill, but in general, like a school, but not professional so as to dodge the extra $$$
because i might be mis reading a post i saw, but some autox events will offer classes?

Harris Hill Road is having a DE on Sat., 12/11. IIRC, it's ~$165 for the day, including lunch, track time, and instruction.
These events are both lots of fun and a fantastic way to accelerate your learning curve by pushing the limts in a safe, controlled environment (Harris Hill doesn't have any fixed objects to hit). I'll be instructing that event.
