Default Question about "clutch buzz"

Hey all,

When I back off the gas, the amount of noise from the exhaust is a little annoying at times. Just wondering how many of you experience this. I've been told it's normal for the S2000. Maybe one of you can give me a ride sometime, so that I can listen for myself. I sometimes wonder if something's not loose.

TSB 054? https://www.s2ki.com/article/articleview/92/1/1/

the exhaust isn't that loud, so I'm quite sure its the clutch. but would be willing to check it out. or else, take it up to First Texas and ask for Garrett in the service department.

I'll probably take it in and get it checked out. Sounds like they'll replace the clutch with a "countermeasured" clutch if it sounds bad enough. Anyhow, I'll have to look into it. Maybe next HH, I'll get someone to take me for a spin so I can hear theirs. Anyone got the new S2000 and have any input as to how the new ones sound?

definately attend the HH and we'll see how normal that is. I have an '01 as well and had TSB054 done a few months ago. No chatter, but its slowly coming back. It doesn't fix the issue entirely, but for the most part... its not there anymore.

Really? That's good news, because mine seems kinda noisy. Gonna go stop by First Texas a little later today.

Mine's a LOT quieter following the recall fix. I'd recommend it.

I'll have to bring it in for the new clutch. Thanks everyone.

Watch what they replace... while my TSB 54 job fixed the buzz (which I had big time), the clutch itself is a lot "softer" and will probably not last very long. I've never gone thru a clutch in any of my past cars, but this is one which I believe will wear out on me.

I've had the clutch TSB done around 15k miles. I then replaced that clutch at 30k miles, due to the "return of the buzz", with an ACT clutch. Now at 60k miles, the ACT is doing the same thing.

Anyone know how that STAR Clutch holds up? I'm on a 100 mile per day pace, so I can do some pretty good test cases for this kind of thing.
