Default Radar Detectors

I'm planning to get a Radar detector.

What Radar detectors do you guys own?

I've heard good things about Beltronics RX 65, and Valentine one...

any other detecors you guys recommend?

thanks

Passport 8500 X50. Available at Best Buy and most major electronic retailers. Good radar detectors, ranks with the V1, but its cheaper and easier to obtain.

I've been running one for years, no tickets (knock on wood). Clear readouts, good detection, sleek design (as opposed to the "VCR" look of the V1 as Noah says).

Google to see where it ranks and decides for yourself.

you dont need a radar detector. if you want to speed then have some balls to do so.

I've had a V1 since 03 and love it. It does give some false positives, but the new mode lets you know once it realizes it. It can pick up a signal over a mile away depending on the terrain and type of radar being run.

Just b/c you have a radar does not protect you 100% you have to be smart about where you speed, if you are not around a bunch of cars and they are hitting cars as they come over a hill...you will get picked up.

Now if you are all by yourself but they have the radar constantly on...then it will pick it up.

i've had an 8500 x50 for like 3 years now, maybe a little less... no tickets, saved me a bunch of times, after a few weeks you will get used to any "false readings" and what they are as they arent the same as cop readings (there is an 8 bar strength indicator, false alarms never go above 3 bars, so once it hits 4 slow down because its a school bus or a cop)

however no matter what you spend, nothing will protect you from laser because once your detector picks it up you've already been trapped... however in my 3 years with one i've only seen one laser and i live in fort worth, so if you're more in the country or a smaller town they probably dont have them at all
