Default Spoon Magnetic Drain plug sets...

Want a set?

Let me know, I have a few in stock and can deliver to you at Friday's Happy Hour. It includes one magnetic drain plug for the engine oil, one for the tranny oil and a few crush washers are included too. They are priced at $55 a set.

Thanks!

What are they?

What is so great about having a maganetic drain plug? Is it so that it grabs on to any metal shards that have developed in the oil?
... just curious.

I may be wrong, but I thought our stock differential drain plaug is already magnetic.

Maybe so, but this is a SPOON bolt (ooooh! ahhh!).

I'm convinced that "Spoon" and Mugen" are Japanese for "outrageous markup".

the differential does have a magnetic drain plug but it is VERY weak. Tuan offered a tip on how to increase the magnetic ability of the diff bolt. these two bolts are for the motor and tranny, not the diff.

as for being marked up - heck, its made for this car, and made in japan. if it were made in america, I'm sure you could get it for about 25 bucks a pair, but this is the cost that I've gotta go by, cause the Yen just sucks right now.

FYI, on my car they capture a good bit of metal.

Ummm, isn't that a bad thing? Wear and tear is gonna happen, but "a good bit of metal" seems like abnormal wear and tear.

Then you might say "Well, it's there in the first place, I'm just picking it up better now".... hmm, maybe, but who knows?

Interesting none the less.

you will shred metal no matter what. that's inevitable with engines and transmissions. but do you really want it floating around in the motor and the tranny with the rest of your fluid being knocked around the gears and valves? that's the purpose of these magnetic drain plugs.
