Tire trouble.
So I have read a bunch of forums on this topic, but I'm just wondering if anyone can confirm it.. I need new tires in the rear, I was going to go to Discount tire for some Yoko S-Drives, but I read I should be getting a 245/45/16 because the original Bridgestones were made in a "wide" 225 for Honda specifically? Any info will help, thanks guys.
They will work. Just know that the height of the sidewall will drop from 112.5mm to 110.5mm so you will lose 4mm of overall height in your setup. This will mean that your speedometer will read slightly faster (maybe 1mph?) than what you're actually traveling at because your tires will travel 18.8mm less in a single rotation.
I have S drives. They're ok for the price. They don't handle as well as the RE050s, but you may get more life out of the Sdrives. I only drive on the street. I don't think it would be a good track tire though. I think my next set may be the Potenza RE760s. I have them on my IS250. They drive pretty nice. I guess it really depends on how you use your car.

Really? They had good reviews from Miatas and so I thought they'd be good on the S...

What is your budget for the tires? Are they for daily driving or will they be used in autox/track/spirited driving?
I have a set of Hankooks on my Tacoma Prerunner. Now I know were not talking about all terrain tires, but the Hankooks were the least expensive, they have a much better ride than the BFGs that were on it. There are so many tires it can be a tough choice. Just gotta remember your budget and how you plan to use the car. With technology today, DOT standards, I'm not sure if there is really a terrible tire on the market.
