Default Am I being over cautious?

I just bought several gas masks for my family, girlfriend, and myself. I figured that this is just a reality that Americans must start to accept as a part of there everyday life. I figured between the threat of attacks by terrorist, and living just a few miles from the largest concentration of chemical plants in America, that it was a decent investment. The masks were not to expensive and last for years.

I hate terrorist for making me do this, but that's the way it goes.

I hope that our troops show them a real warm welcome

One day they will

What kind of masks? CNN was discussing this when I got home last night, and they mentioned that most real gas masks require training and can be harmful if used improperly. Evidently they have simpler "dummy proof" solutions.

Personal opinion is that the terrorists are successful already cause so many people are scared enough to make these purchases. You gotta do what makes you comfortable. I will take my chances and whatever the consequences by not making the purchases. You have the best chance for the last laugh.

I thought about this earlier this week. The terrorists we're speaking of aren't really going to feel successful with us simply being worried or scared...they actually want to see America go down and be punished. Fear will fade without some action...you can bet that they're not happy with 2 years (for example) of fear as an end result.

mask may last years, once filters are opened and used, only last for days, sometimes hours, depending on concentration.

waste of money, waste of worry.

drive your car, be happy, kiss your wife and tell your kids you love them. lot better way to spend your time than worrying about something that probably will not happen and your family is reality.

remember 60's drop and cover? as if hiding under a desk will protect you from a nuclear blast....

These masks will probably never be used, hopefully never be used, but it is just in case. I guess we will find out one way or the other. Maybe this is over kill, but oh well.

They are similar to the military masks. They are nbc approved. (nbc stands for nuclear, biological, chemical, resistant.)

driving real fast in the opposite direction will keep you alive longer than any of the suggestions they give you. at least we have fast cars, but the gas tanks are small....

think about it, get in a room, cover it in plastic, seal it with duct tape. you will die from lack of oxygen. and at that, the room you pick better be the bathroom. fill the tub with water, stack food in the corner.

think of the old posters.... see the flash, bend over and kiss your a$$ goodbye.
