tried to load Nortons system works into my desk top, to up date the viris system and system works, but it will not load correctly. So I did all that their web site said and still no luck.
Cammie said that I should defragment the computer and see what happens and it will not go pass 38% defragment and then starts over.
It will also lose it's connection to the web if turned off for longer than 5 hours, then I have to delete the internet card and re-start the computer.

Any ideas?

Thinking about a Mac for Cammie business and then I will just use the laptop.

Also any local guys do web sites?

If all else fails, throw the computer out the window.

Coop, have you tried updating your drivers for your internet card? If not, try that. For y our problems for your norton, just uninstall and reinstall.

To get the system to complete the defrag, you have to stop al running services. You can bypass the "Startup" folder by holding down the left shift key during windows boot. Then the only issue is how to stop the auto start services from the "RUN" key in the regstry. You can Export the registtry key and then delete it. Once you are done defrag'ing it, you can restore those settings by double clicking on the export file.

You really should buy a new computer. Your is really old in PC terms. I have stopped using one of mine that is stronger then your and Dell has then for 399, and it is 4-6 times faster.

I agree with Jeff, your PC has really been outdated in terms of performance.

If your interested in someone building a custom PC towards your needs let me know. Since cammie is into photography, 128 is very little. I'm currently running dual channel memory, 2 sticks of 512, and no bottlenecks when working with photoshop, jasc paint, and other software.
