Default crankshaft rattle

So I have had my S for a little over a year now and have noticed a rattle in the engine bay. At first I was convinced that it was a loose exhaust part because that's what the mechanic who sold it to me told me. But the longer I hear it I'm convinced that it's inside the engine. After some extensive research I have narrowed it to a valve knock or worn valve springs but I recently took it to a trusted mechanic and he mentioned a loose piston rod. Suggested to replace the engine or replace piston rods, piston rings, crankshaft, and piston. I don't mind getting used parts for the replacement if it's cheap enough to make a difference between getting whole new engine. Willing to trade the old parts for the replacement to help get a reasonable price. Anyways does anybody have another suggestion for what it could be. Thanks.

I have oem pistons rods and a crank for an ap1 if you want to go that rout. You'll save time by buying another short block but you will never know the condition of it for sure.

I wouldn't be opposed to it. How much are you asking for the pieces? and does that include pistons as well?

Yes pistons as well. I think 400.00 for pistons rods and the crank sounds fair. I Fully built the engine so these parts were just taken off to replace with aftermarket parts .

Ap1 had a shorter stroke so you know if that will affect my engine?

That sounds like a reasonable price. Is there anytime you're free this upcoming week for me to inspect the parts sir?

If your engine is an ap2 then you won't be able to use the crankshaft or the rods that I have. You can come take a look anytime at my house.

I'm assuming years of miss shifting, redlining, and using downshifting for breaking without Rev matching among other things. Another thing I was wondering was how the F22C engine achieved a longer stroke. Different crankshaft or longer piston rods?
