Does Rim Size hinder performance??
Yes, it does. If you're going to go bigger, try to find something that is pretty light. Example, on the S2000 you could slap on some RH CP0-35's in 17x9 and 17x8 that are actually lighter than stock.

From personal experience, if you stay around 17 lb. per wheel for 18 inchers (18x8.5 & 18x7.5 TE37's), and don't exceed a 25 inch overall diameter for your tires (max of 225/40/18 in front and 255/35/18 in rear)...you won't loose all that much when you are already moving.
If you must go bigger...go with some light 17's. And some good 215/45/17 and 245/40/17 tires (S03's).

Won't a larger overall diameter actually slow the rate at which your odometer adds on miles as well as make your speedometer show less than your actual speed? Not that these are bad things, but is there a correction for that?
