Harris County F'in sucks..... auto insurance, home owners insurance, property tax!....

USAA is real tough to beat, that's for sure... we're with them but we pay about $800/6months with $1000 deductible--that's for a 2003 S and a 1998 T&C minivan. But we're in Harris County and I have one speeding.

Ulrich, what area in chicago land were you in? It was really that much cheaper?

Try living in California. Higher auto insurance, Higher housing prices, Higher home owners insurance, property taxes, higher sales taxes, higher auto registration (based on car value), and to top it off State income tax!

I pay about 1100k yr for full coverage for 2 cars, with a 500 for collission and 250 for comp. From what I understand, if you buy some land out side of Harris Co with a dewling you can register your cars there and everything goes down, big time.

I was living on the west end of DuPage county, border of Naperville/Aurora. Typical suburban environment, about 50 miles to downtown Chicago.

Let's see what the differences are:

MODEL YEAR: 2002
VEH DESC: HONDA S2000

BODILY INJURY 100/300 $111.00
PROPERTY DAMAGE 100 $113.00 ($124.95)
PERSONAL INJURY PROTECTION $5000 $34.00 ($10.03)
COMPREHENSIVE $1000 DEDUCTIBLE ACV $99.00 ($27.71)
COLLISION $1000 DEDUCTIBLE ACV $191.00 ($128.13)
UNINSURED/UNDERINSURED 100/300/100 $80.00 ($17.60)

TOTAL 6 MONTH PREMIUM THIS VEHICLE $628.00 ($308.47)

Those amounts in brackets are what I paid in Chicago. So for injury/property damage I am now supposed to pay $224 instead of $125, for medical payments $34 instead of $10, etc.

My two cars are supposed to cost me $1187 per six-month period instead of $550.

I said it before: F*ckers. I'm getting raped here, as far as I can tell.

Higher property taxes!?! I didn't think that was possible....I moved here from Minnesota , which has a pretty big State Income tax, but nothing compared to the $12K I pay here for property tax.....I guess they're going to get ya anyway they can....taxes and insurance

Well, got the policy from Allstate today. Insured both house and cars with the same company to get the multi-policy discount, got the discount for multiple cars, got the discount for having been previously insured for x years, etc. Total for the S2000 ended up being $456.05 per six months. Better than the initial offer; still 50% higher than what I paid in Chicago.

But I guess that's Harris County for you, as was so eloquently stated before...

I guess I am "happy".
