Default Need help with sub

Hey guys..
I love my S2k but i really like listening to music MY WAY..which needs a sub and some nice components...i bought a JL Audio 10W6 10" subwoofer which i am trying to install on top of the center console (between the 2 seats) i know its a tight fit and for sure will need a custom enclosure..but was wondering if it will work??
and if it does..i bought some component speakers for the doors and was hoping if somebody could refer me to a decentplace/person around houston who could do a nice job but not TOO expensive coz we know how the word "cutsom" just makes audio shops drool ...

Sorry for the long post..hoping to hear some advice guys and plz respect that i like music and dont tell me to get rid of the speakers...
THANKS!!

a 10" will be too much but can fit.. Greg from underground had this done with an 8" and paid $$$$$$... with 2 amp installs, components, custom fab, radio install, etc.. expect to pay in the 4 figures...

I'm talking about just the overall total cost (including installation)

How handy are you? If you are somewhat mechanically inclined and good with your hands, you should give fiberglassing a shot. Every "custom" enclosure I've heard about sounded unreasonably expensive for what it was, unless you had someone that could hook you up.

Laying fiberglass is not that difficult. You won't even spend that much on materials. Epoxy resin will run you roughly $25.00 a gallon and fiberglass sheets about $3.00 per square foot. For something like (1) 10w6 in the location you are describing will not require a large box.

If you are not good with finish/paint prep work, you can just have the box fab'd up and send the box to get finished/painted and save some money that way.

When I did my first enclosure, I didn't know squat about laying fiberglass. Read up on the internet and just gave it a shot. Turned out pretty good for my first attempt. The only thing that I would've changed was that the walls were thicker than they needed to be. I've since learned a few tricks to make things easier. I wish I have some pics of the enclosure, but I've already sold the setup to someone.

Honestly fly s2k your suggestion sounds reasonable but i am kind of scared to do it on my own since i think i will be needing to cut some stuff in "the glove compartment" but i really like working with my hands and its more fun when you do it yourself...So i am totally into it but i wish somebody would do it with me...Anybody??

i would assume it would still cost anywhere from 800+ due to uninstalling the center area which alone takes at least 1-2 hrs by someone that hasnt worked on s2000's that much.

Did you check out the two car audio forums I mentioned in one of your other thread?

http://www.caraudio.com/forum/

http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/

They can recommend local installers for you which might save you cash. Also, are you using deadning material inside the cabin? Last thing you want to do is spend all that money to have everything rattle.
