Default SCCA Rookie Skool Event Oct 31st

I had posted this earlier in the year, but we ended up postponing the event. This event is great for ANYONE with a driver's license that would like to see what their car can do in a safe environment, while learning key driving skills and techniques. The rookie skool is perfect for a number of different people because it is low in cost, does not require anything but a helmet, (and we have loaners) and a car without a "vehicle may tip" warning (aka jeep, truck, SUV) A number of parents sign their licensed children up for this event, and it REALLY can help you on the road, as I was unfortunately just reminded of yesterday. This is a great event, and I hope to see some of you out there. Please pass the information on to anyone else you know that may be interested, as you do not have to be a member of SCCA or have any specific type of car or anything. (Just nothing that will tip) In fact, stock cars are MORE than welcome!

This year's Rookie Skool is Oct 31st, 2009

Time: 7am
Place: Gulf Greyhound Park- 1000 Fm 2004 Rd, La Marque, TX, 77568
Who: Anyone of any level, who feels they could use some instruction
Price: $75 for members, $90 for non members (which gives you the weekend membership)
Sign up at http://www.dlbracing.com (go to October 31st)

You will learn from the best drivers in the Houston Region. You are good but we will make you better and faster. You will have classroom training and seat time to develop your driving skills. Learn the driving techniques needed to be competitive in Solo Autocross.

In the morning classroom and on-course training you will learn:
- about vehicle dynamics and techniques for driving the fast line,
- how to read the course to determine which cones are the most important,
- how to determine which path will be the fastest,
- how to define a braking strategy that will give you the best time,
- the technical skills that will make you faster.
- how to relate these skills to the "real world."

After lunch (which is provided), students will practice on a full solo course with an instructor . For all exercises and the practice session, you will have a seasoned instructor in the car to give you feedback and encouragement.
