Bad news, the patch is falling off. Could it be due to folding the top down or heat?

Yup, parked outside often. Only one side started to peel away, the other side is still fine, I just re-patched it for now.

what i did was put it beyond the bar so it would'nt push the tape whereas it will be on the tape when the top is closing or opening

Been a while since I stopped in here. I noticed a wear spot, due to sunlight coming thru, on my top a couple months ago and found this topic. After tracking down the elusive Tenacious Tape, I patched my top a few weeks back and it appears to be holding well.

I cut the tape so the bar would always be resting on it. I'd also read that it was best to round the ends.

The tape was so curved from being in that tiny tube that after I cut the patches I placed them between a couple hard cover books and let them sit for over a week so they'd be flat.

I noticed the top was extremely dusty and figured the patch wouldn't stick very long unless that was taken care of - so each night that the patches were between the books I took a damp cloth and wiped down the top were the patch was going to be applied. The first few nights the cloth was black after wiping off the top, but by the end nothing was coming off the canvas anymore.

The short part of tape behind the bar occasionally comes loose, so I just push it back against top top. The larger section covering the wear spot hasn't come loose - I suspect that's because of the bar moving back/forth over that area.

I gave up on it, I had to patch it like 3x already. I didn't try to tape it over the bar though. I simply just put the hardtop back on lol.
