damn sorry for loss Valkdriver!

question: if thief slashes top, but unable to take seats does that still render total loss?

Total loss happens when the cost to repair the damage is about 75% of the value of the car. Salvage title happens when the cost to repair the damage exceeds the value of the car. You can still have full coverage on a car with total loss title. When the car is sold and the new owner registers the car then the title changes to salvage title. Cost of a soft top is about 1000 (give or take a couple hundred) plus 10 hours of labor for installation at 40 dollars/hour, $1400. These are real insurance numbers. Seat locks are 65 bucks.

no that can be counted as under vandalism. and will run you about 2500 all said and done... and remember people just because you have a hardtop doesn't mean you're safe. there has been a couple of incidents of people getting there hardtops stolen...

My top was chopped and my seats were stolen at night in my driveway (near Sugar Land) about three weeks ago. Seats were from an '07 Berlina Black. It's totally sucking trying to get things fixed. I discovered later they broke a piece on the top frame. Don't really know what to do about that. If you see my seats...shoot the dude...lol.
;(
You aren't in stafford/meadows area are you? Now it's staying in the garage for sure.
e

I am. Where are you? I'm working on the garage thing. Been doing a lot of home remodelling and have tools, materials, and motorcycles too. There is a charcoal s2000 a couple of streets over from me. It really sucks and I am no where near out of the woods yet. I discovered a couple of days ago that the idiot that did the passenger side ripped the carpet and they also broke a piece off of my top frame. I'm hoping to get it rewelded but I'm going to have to have someone come to me as I can't take it apart.

Some CL listings in Houston for seats...first one seems REALLY shady to me...

Guy in Sugar Land selling for $700
http://houston.craigslist.org/pts/3102783938.html

NW Side for $600
http://houston.craigslist.org/pts/3099345334.html

Pasadena for $600
http://houston.craigslist.org/pts/3037280249.html

Kind of sucks if you are REALLY looking for replacement seats...I guess just wait to find a regular on here to post?

The last one seems shady to me. I mean honestly, how many REAL s2000 owners will have spare seats or retained the seats after car being sold? Not many!

Either those seats were stolen or they were bought from someone who stole them most likely.
