Why I Have An 04
I thought Houston area owners would be interested in my story. I late november I bought a spa yellow 01 with only 4,800 miles. I loved it. Last month I took it to Sterling McCall Honda for it's 7,500 mile oil change.
The next night at 9:00 (24 miles after the oil change), I was driving the 1 mile home from my office and about a block from home the engine sounded like a thrashing machine. i more or less coasted home and pushed it in the garage. I was a wreck!!!!!!!!!!!
Next morning the dealer said have it towed in. when the tow truck lifted the car there was NO OIL PLUG. The dealer filled with oil and drained through a filter twice and seeing no metal (I was right there) and listening with a stethascope (sp) they declared it okay.
Two days later i brought it back because when i let out the clutch slowely in 1st, there was a very low rumble like a throughout bearing. They listened and agreed. When they pulled the pan they found metal in the bottom and pulled the head. It was fuined.
They accepted full responsibility and put in a new short block and head. I still wasn't happy.
They had a new silverstone on the floor. I checked the value of my car and a new one on Edmunds.com (the president is a friend). They offered me a deal at $1,000 better than the Edmunds difference. I rechecked and said how about $2,000.
Will I go back to Sterling McCall? Yes, they will never make a mistake on my car again and the did everything possible to "make it good."

Sounds like a win win situation. You got a deal on a new car, and the dealership sold one out of inventory. They made money, you got an '04 and a happy customer, and they have your service buisness. That's the way dealerships should be run.
Now... check your engine oil at every fill up!!!!!
