Default 2002 BMW Autocross Information

I have been talking to Mark Williams who is the new LSCBMWCCA autocross
chairman for 2002 and has given me some great news. Starting in 2002 there
will be 2 "other" classes, X and Y.

X will be cars less than 3.0 liters.
Y will be cars over 3.0 liters.

Any car with a turbo or supercharger will have a 1.5 x multiplier.
Rotary motors get a 2 x multiplier.
Motor sizes in cc are rounded to the nearest tenth prior to using
multipliers..

examples...

S2000 is 1997cc which rounds to 2.0 is in class X.

Gen 2 MR2 Turbo is 1998 cc (or something like that) which rounds to 2.0
it has a turbo, therefore 2.0 x 1.5 = 3.0L which is class Y

Audi 1.8T is 17xx cc which is 1.8 x 1.5 = 2.7L which is class X

Mazda RX7 Turbo is 1.3L x 1.5 x 2.0 = 3.9L which is class Y

They are also working on a new laptop (old one is a P1) and a label printer
for next
year. The laptop should be able to route times from the timer onto the
printer..
then a runner will take the printed label to the car.. Hopefully they can
get the printed
label to show:
1) overall FTD
2) run time for that run
3) FTD in class (up to the minute)

He also said they will be trying to make some changes in course design as
well so that a BMW or class X car may be able to take FTD.

Check out their redone website at http://www.lscautox.org/ for the 2002
schedule and more info.
