2006 US Grand Prix
I am leaving on Wednesday morning for my vacation and trip to Indianapolis for the USGP. Is anyone else going to the race; anyone that has been with some good tips for a first timer? This will be my very first major motorsport event, needless to say being a F1 event, I am very excited. There is a nice line up of races to go along with the GP, so it should be very exciting.
The next 2 days at work are going to be the longest of my life.
I am also attending the Kiss & Make Up Party on Saturday night, which I hope will turn out to be a lot of fun. I want to get in one of the simulators that are going to be there!
I will take lots of pics and share when I return.

Yep I'm leaving Friday morning so I'll get there a little later. It will be my first time at Indy also. Don't forget the earplugs and binocs....maybe an umbrella in case it rains. I dont know if the stands are covered or not.

Is SpeedTV doing a local broadcast? Check their webpage. I went w/ TypeSH a few years ago and he had a scanner so we could listen to speed commentators and also some pit broadcasts during the race. Very good idea.
Take good sunblock, and maybe a bit of bugspray. Seems like I remember a few bugs in the early morning hours. And, yeah... earplugs or good headphones for the scanner/radio.

Yes SpeedTv is covering the race. They will be airing both Friday Practice sessions, Sat Practice and Qualy, and of course the Race. THere is also a USGP Special coming on on Speed Saturday night I believe. My TiVo is all setup to record em all.
Sunblock, binoculars, ear plugs are already packed. Guy i work with is from Indy, he called his Brother up there yesterday for me to get a weather report. Supposed to be hot and sticky through the weekend.

Any idea about the parking situation? Is it pavement, dirt or other? And is it free? I looked at an aerial photo and didnt see much parking outside the track. And what about leaving for lunch and returning - gotta pay again??
